Mikhell Hector
Lecturer in Forensic Science
Mikhell Hector joined the University of Greenwich in December 2022 bringing a wealth of experience from The Trinidad & Tobago Forensic Science (TTFSC). Mikhell previously worked as a Junior Forensic Scientist via an On-the-Job Training Programme in the Biology section of TTFSC. This experience afforded him the opportunity to become a Scientific Officer under the Ministry of National Security for the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago.
A qualified expert in Forensic Biology & DNA Analysis; Mikhell has served as an expert witness in criminal investigations involving Forensic Biology and DNA Analysis. Mikhell holds an MSc in Forensic Science from the University of Staffordshire and a BSc in Biology and Environmental & Natural Resource Management from the University of the West Indies.
Responsibilities within the university
- Module leader for Year 1 Module titled, Exploring Forensic Science
- Module leader for Year 3 Elective Module titled, Food Crime which spans both Forensic Science and Food Science & Nutrition.
- Leads Specialized teaching in Forensic Biology & DNA Analysis throughout the all the Forensic Science Programmes.
- Research Project Supervisor for all the BSc Forensic Science Programmes as well as the MSc Pharmaceutical Science, Biotechnology and Online BioMed Programmes.
Research / Scholarly interests
Mikhell is currently pursuing a PhD with the University of Greenwich utilizing a ‘Multi-Omics’ Approach to Human Identification and Time since Deposition Studies (TsD) Estimation from Fingermarks.
