Dr Muhammad Waqas
Senior Lecturer in Cyber Security (Wireless Communications Security)
Dr Muhammad Waqas is a Senior Lecturer in Cybersecurity at the University of Greenwich (London, UK) and Head of the V2X Cyber Range Lab, where he contributes to research outputs, curriculum development, and module leadership in areas such as Computer Networks and Computer Forensics. He also serves as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Edith Cowan University (Perth, Australia). Previously, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Bahrain and a Research Associate at Beijing University of Technology, China. He earned his PhD in Information and Communication Engineering from Tsinghua University, following MSc and BSc degrees in Electrical Engineering (Wireless Communication).
His research interests include wireless communications, vehicular networks, cybersecurity, and machine learning. In professional recognition, he is a Senior Member of IEEE and holds UK teaching recognition aligned with the UK Professional Standards Framework, including Fellowship (FHEA) (Sept. 2024 - Aug. 2025) and Associate Fellowship (AFHEA) (Sept. 2022 - Aug. 2023). His portfolio includes funded research projects (as PI/Co-PI/consultant), peer-reviewed research articles, a Best Research Paper Award (ASSP 2021), and invited talks/session chairing at international conferences and academic seminars.
