Dr Robyn Goldsmith
Lecturer in Mathematics (Data Science)
Robyn Goldsmith is a Lecturer in Mathematics (Data Science) within the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences. Her research interests are within the areas of Stochastic Modelling, Inventory Optimisation and Forecasting. Her recent work has focused on developing long-term forecasting models to support sustainable decision-making.
Robyn is passionate about science communication and mathematical outreach. She has been awarded the Statistical Excellence Award for Early Career Writing by the Royal Statistical Society and the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications’ Graham Hoare Prize. Robyn is the immediate past-chair of the Early Career Mathematicians Committee at the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications.

Research / Scholarly interests
Robyn’s research interests are within the areas of Operational Research and Statistics. More specifically, her interests focus on Stochastic Modelling, Forecasting and Inventory Optimisation. Recently, she has developed long-term forecasting models applicable to intermittent demand to facilitate sustainable decision-making. She is also interested in interdisciplinary research and the intersection of mathematics with other disciplines, including subjects within the humanities.
