Professor Chris Walshaw BSc, MSc, PhD

Professor of Informatics

Chris Walshaw is a Professor of Informatics at the University of Greenwich with a particular focus on enterprise and knowledge exchange. He studied at Bath University (BSc Mathematics), the University of Edinburgh (MSc Mathematics of Non-Linear Models) and Heriot-Watt University (PhD in Parallel Algorithms for Large Sparse Systems of Differential Equations). His research interests have evolved since then and are centred around Combinatorial Optimisation, Multilevel Refinement, Graph Partitioning & Visualisation and Music Information Retrieval. In addition, with his PhD students, KTP associates and MSc project supervision he takes a wider interest in data visualisation, machine learning and network optimisation. His teaching has covered a range of topics in mathematics and computing but is currently focussed on visualisation and programming.
