Loudspeaker Orchestra Concert Series 2016/17

The first of our 2016/17 concert season, this loudspeaker orchestra concert presents works created by Composers and Sound Designers at the University of Greenwich alongside special guest Erik Nyström.

This is a great opportunity to experience a concert of ‘spatial audio’. Composers will use live surround sound diffusion mixing to perform their pieces spatially within the Stockwell Street building.

Erik Nyström

Erik Nyström is a UK-based composer whose output includes electroacoustic works, live computer music, and sound installations. The majority of his works are created for multichannel formats, and currently utilise real-time interactive composition and performance systems. Among the recurring interests in his practice are spatiotemporal deformations and transformations, texture perception, the emergence of forms, entropic processes, topology, and visual and physical listening experiences.

He is currently a Leverhulme Research Fellow at BEAST (Birmingham Electroacoustic Sound Theatre), University of Birmingham, working on a project entitled Synthesis of Spatial Texture Topology in Composition and Performance. The research develops an aesthetic and technological model for multi-channel music, based entirely on real-time spatial texture synthesis processes and algorithms.

His music has been published on the disc Morphogenèse by empreintes DIGITALes.
