LevelUp@GRE

Our LevelUp@GRE course has been designed to help new students feel at home in the university and quickly understand the various services available and skills required of them.

Starting at university can be both an exciting time and a daunting time. Students have worked very hard for their place on a university course and should be very proud of their achievement but, that doesn't mean the whole prospect of university isn't a bit scary.

Every new experience we encounter creates mixed feelings within us, we are keen to get started and involved in something exciting and different but at the same time we are often a bit worried - "Will I fit in?" "Will I understand all the new ideas I will encounter?" "How will I know what to do when I'm set course-work?" "Will everyone else know exactly what is going on and will I look lost and confused??"

These are all natural concerns that every student encounters and, for the most part, all of these worries disappear during the first term.

This course has been designed to help with the process of working through these early worries and concerns so that all new students feel not only that they are in exactly the right place for them but that they understand what is required of them so that they can succeed in their student life.

LevelUp has been designed to be easily accessed online and has been divided into a number of sections highlighting important areas that students have expressed concern over in the past. The topics range from general "how to survive as a new student" advice to "How should I write my first essay" academic advice. Each section contains information and activities to help you better understand what being a student is all about.

It is perfectly possible for this course to be accessed by an individual student alone simply working through the material at their own pace but it works best when coordinated by student personal tutors. Working in a tutor or study group helps you get a better sense of being part of a student body and helps to provide structure through cooperation.
