“I chose to study at the University of Greenwich because of many reasons.” Brooke explained “The connections that the university has with hospitals such as the Evelina is great, as are the amazing facilities, including their newly renovated simulation labs which are invaluable to our learning and practice.” Brooke went on to tell us that when she came to an open day, she found all the module leaders to be incredibly passionate about what they do and she found this really motivating.
Brooke was full of praise for her lecturers. “The university has completely met all of my expectations, especially the teachers.” She confided. “All of my module leaders have been nothing less than amazing, they are so supportive and want you to do just as well as you do. They are so experienced and have a world of knowledge to offer.”
Brooke’s placements were completed at Darent Valley hospital where she experienced working in a number of different settings. This included special care, the paediatric ward, specialist nursing, the children’s resource centre, Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU), day care and paediatric A&E.
Brooke told us that she immensely enjoyed her placements. She also told us; “I have learnt and experienced so much. The course has made me a confident, personable, caring and passionate nurse which I am excited to take forward in my career. I have recently found out I have been accepted for a job in children’s A&E in the trust where I have completed my training, which I wouldn’t have been able to do without the support of my course leaders. I highly recommend taking the jump and doing the course for anyone who is thinking of it, I’m so glad I did.
We thank Brooke for sharing her story and wish her all the best for the future!
