Greenwich has a great working environment!

First year BSc Hons Speech and Language Therapy student Imogen Aylott-Stephens tells us why she chose Greenwich.

“During my application process, which was during Covid, I couldn’t go to look at any universities.” Imogen explained. “When I was looking online, the website for Greenwich had a live question section which answered all my questions instantly. It created a supportive place for me to feel comfortable, showing how the university was an adaptable place for all.”

So far, Imogen says that she is really enjoying her course. “It has gone beyond my expectations.” Imogen told us “All the lecturers offer a safe working environment, welcoming all questions. The main aspect I like about my course is that there is a morning lecture and a workshop to apply the knowledge I have just learnt, which also enables to me to ask further questions if unsure on certain areas.”

Imogen goes onto say that all her lectures are well structured and engaging. She explained that some involve group work which focus on team building and some are independent study, ready for placement and future work. “The lecturers are supportive, especially during assessments and creating projects, making you as a student feel as though there is always someone to go to when there is a problem.”

When we asked about her placements, Imogen, who is just finishing her first year says “I have really enjoyed it and have had a great experience, gaining workplace experience and gathering knowledge. My Placement Educator has been really supportive and helped me all the way through my placement, offering me great opportunities to try out new skills.

Imogen also praises the social side of the course. “During my first year, I made many friends of all ages. Everyone in the lectures is approachable and friendly, making it easy for everyone to help each other and for everyone to get along.”

We asked Imogen what she hopes to get from the course. “The confidence and independence to continue to grow as a woman, showing my hard work and to help others within the care system.” She explained.

Finally, we asked Imogen if she would recommend her course. “Yes!” Imogen answered “The University has a great working environment, offering educational support alongside providing students with an easy way to access materials for the course. There are also great activities for you to get to know new students on the campus.”

We thank Imogen for sharing her story with us and wish her all the best for the future!
