Research by Dr. Carlos Moreno-Leguizamon with a strong participatory focus has uncovered cultural inequalities in healthcare.

For instance, the Learning Alliance participatory method of stakeholder engagement has been applied to palliative care via the LAPCEL projects (Learning Alliance for Palliative and End of Life Care). This participatory research knowledge generation and exchange depended on mutual support for all participant stakeholders (palliative care service providers, researchers, policy makers and others), geared to reduce inequality in relation to minority groups (e.g., Black, Asian, Eastern European, Gypsy, Roma, and Travellers communities) served by those stakeholders
