While researching what to study after high school, I found forensic science. I already had an interest in crime shows and thrillers and had read about this field. The course at the University of Greenwich is accredited by the Chartered Society of Forensic Science; this was a major factor in my choice to study at Greenwich, as well as knowing I would have access to mock crime scenes and exposure to knowledge about real life cases.

From the very first day, I’ve had access to quality teaching, approachable lecturers, and opportunities for both academic and personal development.

The Medway Campus has specialist labs and modern equipment. The Faculty of Engineering and Science has a strong reputation and emphasis on practical learning, and all my lecturers have real life experience in their specialised fields.

The support from fellow students during group activities or projects make my university experience invaluable. As an international student, I value the inclusivity of Greenwich and the incredible supportive academic environment and the number of opportunities for personal and professional development. I enjoy most the lab sessions and mock crime scene sessions. Applying the theories learnt in the lectures to those mock crime scenes help me build real-life skills. Precision for example is very important – one small error in the science or mishandling of evidence can affect a case.

I see myself working as a crime scene officer after I have finished studying. I would also like to get a Master’s degree to get more experience and research.
