How does BSc Mathematics at the University of Greenwich help you get career-ready?

We caught up with some of our recent BSc Mathematics graduates. They all credit their university for helping them achieve their goals and become the people they are today.

Specialist degrees and fascinating modules

For University of Greenwich alum Rajan Ram, now an Analytics and AI Consultant at a multinational information technology company, it was the broad choice of modules to choose from for his BSc Mathematics degree that not only developed his knowledge but helped him understand the broad career pathways open to mathematics graduates.

I enjoyed the breadth of core modules that were available. It really helped define the scope of my career aspirations.

Modules in the programme also proved inspiring for alum Matilda Bineri, who graduated in 2017. It was studying Analysis of Data that set her on the path to the career she has now as a Data Analyst at a national company in the utilities sector. Meanwhile, Actuarial Analyst and Greenwich alum Monika Tseknizova’s fondest memory of her time studying mathematics at Greenwich was working on a group project to research and deliver a presentation on the Travelling Salesperson Problem. Monika enjoyed the challenge and the opportunity to develop her public speaking skills, which would come in useful when applying for jobs in the future.

Opportunities outside of the classroom

There are also plenty of opportunities outside of the classroom for students to build their skills and enhance their employability. Recent graduates have listed the Maths Society and the free lectures by guest speakers as some of the opportunities they have been able to get involved with at Greenwich.

Every week there was something new to look forward to. Not to mention guest speakers who would come and tell us more about the field.
Juliean Rajakanthan, BSc Mathematics graduate, 2019
