Ready and inspired for the working world

Matilda graduated from her BSc Mathematics degree at the University of Greenwich in 2017. After graduating, Matilda quickly entered the working world, joining one of the London local authorities as a performance and data analyst under the authority’s Performance, Strategy and Insight team. She thoroughly enjoyed her time there and the experience she gained.

Two and half years later she felt ready and inspired to take her career a step further and successfully applied for her current role of Data Analyst at a national company in the utilities sector.

Moments that make you love what you do

I loved my time at Greenwich. They were three years full of interesting new subjects, hard work and amazing people all around me.

Matilda would not be where she is today without her time at the University of Greenwich. Her BSc Mathematics degree not only provided her with the qualification she needed to excel in her field, but also provided her with the personal development and transferable workplace skills including time management and problem-solving skills, which she needed to be able to confidently pursue these roles after graduation and stand out from other applicants.

Matilda is very complimentary of the university and her university experience. She says her fondest memories were the times she worked with and received guidance and insight from her lecturers, either in lessons or when completing coursework. She says it is moments like these make you love what you do for a lifetime.

Analysis of Data, compulsory for Year 1, was Matilda’s favourite module. It was studying it that inspired her to consider careers in this field, which is of course where she is today.

Invest in your future

Because of everything it provided her with, Matilda describes her time at university as the best gift she gave herself and would like to encourage people to consider investing in their futures through an education at the University of Greenwich.

I would advise everyone, especially women, to study at the University of Greenwich, because there is an enormous attention to inclusivity and diversity, which tailors teaching and learning to each student’s needs.
