TLDRoffon

Recent Graduate Mahfoozur Rahman shares his experiences of studying a Mathematics Degree at Greenwich before starting a PGCE in Secondary Education.

For Mahfoozur, a university where students are well supported by academics and career services was very important. The university’s reputation initially attracted Mahfoozur and he had heard from friends who previously studied at Greenwich that “the support offered by lecturers was amazing [as well as] the resources available within the university” he says.

Studying at Greenwich

While studying at Greenwich Mahfoozur felt comfortable asking his lecturers for help whenever he needed it. “The lecturers were so helpful throughout my entire time. [They] provide enough resources and support for any driven student to do well and provide a level of teaching which is more than just a PowerPoint slide”, he says.

He adds that “my mathematics degree has shown me what mathematics really is and the endless applications it has.”

Inspiring the next generation of Mathematics students

Since graduation, Mahfoozur has been accepted into a PGCE programme, where he hopes to inspire secondary students to pursue mathematics at university. His degree at Greenwich has revealed to him “what mathematics really is and the endless applications it has [and] I hope to transfer this to my future students.”
