Accessing campus from 8 March
If you are required to work on campus to support and deliver the programmes and services resuming on campus, then you will not need to complete the online form requesting access to campus.
Staff who do not need to be on campus should continue to work at home. We will continue to monitor the government advice and update you if this changes. If you require exceptional access to campus, then you will need to continue to request access using the online form.
Note: If you have not been on campus for a while your ID card may require an update. You can do this by holding it against an online reader - usually located at the main entrances to buildings - the reader will go through a series of lights ending in green, when the green light goes out it is ready to use. If you encounter any issues please speak to our security teams.
Covid-testing
The Government has been clear that regular testing for students and staff will be a key part of the safe reopening of campuses, and we continue to have local authority testing facilities on all three campuses. All students have been asked to follow the government’s guidance which is that they should be tested twice upon their return and then twice weekly where possible, when they are on campus (students should not travel to campus solely to get a test). They have also been reminded of the actions to take if they develop symptoms or test positive for Covid-19.
If you are required to resume on campus working, then you should get tested when you return to campus and where possible twice a week following that, when you are on campus (do not travel to campus solely to get a test). You can book tests via the council websites and can book a test at any of the testing facilities available.
If you are based at Avery Hill and Greenwich campuses, then you can get a ‘critical worker card’ from Greenwich council which enables you to get tested at any Greenwich council test site without having to book in advance. Please contact your faculty or directorate if you require one of these.
A parking and travel update
Our suspension of parking charges will continue until 30 April. From 4 May charges will restart in line with the reduced fees we introduced in September. If you have not cancelled your permit the fee will be deducted automatically from your May salary. Lower charges will remain in place for the current academic year.
Our university bus service will also resume from Monday 8 March, further details can be found on our Travel & Transport pages.
