A Chemistry BSc degree from the University of Greenwich, based at the Medway campus, equips students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills they need for a successful science career.

Accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry, the UK's professional body for chemical scientists, this degree offers an excellent education in chemistry, preparing students for roles in research and development, the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, forensic science, and health and safety.

As well as getting a comprehensive education in chemistry, undergraduates also develop transferable skills that can attract employers from other sectors, such as business and public service.

Chemistry student Kelly Fitzsimons said: "I think Greenwich is different to many other universities because, although the main reason for going to university is to achieve an academic qualification, they really encourage social activities and personal development.

"All members of staff are extremely approachable and will offer support and encouragement throughout your studies. Lecturers are on first-name basis with all students and this gives the university a feel of almost being like a family, where you're valued and encouraged to reach your full potential."

For the duration of the degree, students study a broad range of branches of the discipline, including inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry and analytical chemistry. The tailored academic support students are given guides them through their degree.

Dr Samantha Booth, Programme Leader, said: "Students are taught by an experienced team whose expertise and knowledge closely reflects the modules of this course.

"The team includes senior academics, professional practitioners with industry experience, demonstrators, lab technicians, and external experts who provide guest lectures on some modules. Our PhD researchers also offer lab support, which our undergraduate students find very useful.

"We are also proud of the fact that in the latest National Student Survey (NSS), the Chemistry BSc degree received 100 per cent student satisfaction."

The Chemistry BSc degree apprenticeship was the first in the UK to be accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry, and graduates can apply for associate membership.

As well as offering the Chemistry BSc degree, Greenwich also offers a four-year Chemistry (Extended) BSc, which requires a lower entry tariff than the three-year course and starts with a foundation year. Students can also opt for the Chemistry BSc with a fourth year Master's option, leading to an MChem qualification.
