The Coaching Network pilot aims to provide an internal pool of coaches to support staff

Staff accessing the network can have up to five coaching sessions over a four to six month period.  Since its launch in February it has been popular which is why we are recruiting more coaches to join the Coaching Network.

A comprehensive development programme for coaches joining the network

Before you join the Coaching Network as a coach, you'll undertake a comprehensive development programme which will give you the required skills, knowledge and understanding of how to coach effectively. 

The development programme schedule includes a briefing session, four days of face to face delivery and three action learning sets of half a day each and a review session.  Whilst attending the development programme it is also recommended that you coach at least two individuals for approximately 8 hours in total.  You will also have the opportunity to complete a Chartered Management Institute level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring.  The cost of the qualification is £325 + VAT, which will be paid from your Faculty or Directorate budget. 

What do I have to do as a coach as part of the Coaching Network pilot?

  • You will need to commit to act as a coach within the Coaching Network pilot for at least one year after the completion of the development programme.
  • You will also need to commit to having at least two or a maximum of three individual or group coaching relationships a year, with each relationship consisting of a maximum of four one hour meetings plus a "chemistry" meeting at the beginning of each relationship.
  • You need to be ready to embrace the coaching relationships and actively work with the coachee to address their specified goals
  • To attend the networking opportunities and continuous professional development provided within the beyond the network.
  • Engage with the evaluation process of the Coaching Network pilot.

How do I apply to become a coach in the Coaching Network pilot?

Please complete the application form which needs to be authorised by your line manager and PVC or Director.  Please refer to the Skills and Behaviours of a Coach when completing the application form and send your completed form to  by midday on Friday 21 July.   

The applications will be shortlisted and the shortlisted applicants will be invited to an informal group interview on either 26 July or 1 August.  Applicants will be informed of the interview decision by 5pm on Friday 11 August.
