From Tuesday 30 November face coverings are required in university buildings and vehicles

TLDRoffon

We are updating our guidelines following the government’s announcement. If you are exempt from wearing a face covering, please wear/display an exemption badge or lanyard.

Following the government announcement and updated guidance for universities from the Department for Education (DfE), face coverings will be mandatory inside our buildings and vehicles, including our teaching spaces and libraries, unless you are exempt.

Please help us understand if you are exempt from wearing a face covering by displaying/wearing an exemption badge or lanyard.  These can be obtained from our Student Centres.

There are some exceptions which are set out in our guidance, for example you can remove your face covering when seated at a desk/workstation and you are 2m or more away from other people (including those circulating in the space).  Our guidance and Covid Safe Charter will be updated to reflect that face coverings are now mandatory in most situations.

We also ask you to wear face coverings in university catering outlets except when eating/drinking.

Free reusable face coverings for students and staff

From Tuesday 30 November Student Ambassadors will hand out free reusable face coverings to students and staff in the following locations:

  • GSU Welcome Desk, The Dome, Avery Hill campus
  • GSU Welcome Desk, Dreadnought, Greenwich campus
  • GSU Welcome Desk, The Hub, Medway campus
  • Libraries on each campus.

We also have stocks of face coverings in the Student Centres and at security desks for people who have forgotten to bring one.

Getting regular Covid-19 symptom free (LFD) tests

We also expect staff and students who are on campus should get a Covid-19 symptom free (LFD) test twice a week with 3-4 days between tests. This is part of our Covid-Safe Charter.

You can find details of where you can collect home test kits on our Covid testing page.

Thank you for continuing to help keep us all Covid-Safe.
