Get involved helping develop our Strategic Plan Articles

The Vice-Chancellor is keen for colleagues across the university to help develop our Strategic Plan for 2017-2022. You will shortly receive an appointment to an 'Open Space' event, which we are holding on each campus in January and early February.  You'll be able to share your ideas and join conversations about the suggestions raised on the day, or those suggested online. These events are open for all staff, attendees set the agenda and choose to join the conversation that resonates with them.

Alongside these events, in January we will launch the Ideas Centre, where you will be able to share your ideas and discuss the ideas suggested with colleagues online.

Both the Open Space events and the online Ideas Centre are opportunities for you to get involved in helping develop our Strategic Plan. You can do both – you don't need to restrict yourself to just attending an Open Space event or participating online.

The Open Space events will take place on:

  • 11 January, 1pm – 4.30pm at Avery Hill (Mansion)
  • 18 January, 1pm- 4.30pm at Medway- this session will now take place in Jellicoe 118
  • 8 February, 1pm – 4.30pm at Greenwich (Hamilton House) - this session is approaching capacity

If you are unable to make the event on your campus, please indicate which alternate event you'd like to attend when you respond to the invitation.

* The appointments have been sent using the campus specific mailing lists. If you did not receive an appointment please check to see if you are in the relevant group for your campus, if you're not please contact ILS to add you into the appropriate group. All staff are welcome at any of the Open Space events shown above.

What is an Open Space event?

It's a large-group meeting where attendees create the agenda and join the conversations they are the most interested in. Nothing is off the agenda; all the ideas raised can be discussed.  The output from the event is a summary of the conversations held which we expect to include in the Ideas Centre so we can continue the conversation.

We expect there to plenty of time for questions and conversations and the intention is to make a real difference to the shape of our Strategic Plan.
