We're excited to announce that the interim LASE brand guidance and toolkit are now live. Colleagues can access the approved Day 1 brand assets, templates, guidance and FAQs, giving everyone the tools they need to use from 1 August.
The guidance has been designed to support staff to present a clear and consistent identity for LASE, and for the universities of Greenwich and Kent as part of LASE, from 1 August. It is the first step in the LASE brand journey, with the longer-term LASE brand being developed through a programme of research, insight and engagement with staff and stakeholders.
What do I need to do?
For students, it is important that the Greenwich and Kent brands are not replaced by LASE. For student-facing activity (including student recruitment and campus-based communications) you should continue to use the existing University of Greenwich and University of Kent house brands.
You will notice that some core channels are being updated centrally to make clear that Greenwich and Kent are now part of LASE. In these cases, the LASE brand will complement, not replace, the existing university brands.
From 1 August 2026, colleagues will need to:
- Update your email signature using the new template to show that Greenwich and Kent are now part of LASE. We have produced a guide on how to do this.
- Add a LASE Teams background, you can choose from a variety of designs
- Use the updated LASE PowerPoint template for all presentations – apart from student recruitment materials and presentations for current students, where you should use existing house brand templates.
- Consider adding LASE as a second place of work on your personal LinkedIn profile, if you wish – and you can follow LASE on LinkedIn too.
All updated templates and LASE brand assets can be found here.
Some teams have additional Day 1 actions, such as updating logos on core channels, presentations, digital platforms or other communications, to make clear that Greenwich and Kent are now part of LASE. If this applies to your area, you will receive (or have already received) specific guidance to support these changes.
Please note, student-facing social media channels should not change their branding or logo – but instead, the ‘About us’ or ‘Info’ sections of accounts should be updated to refer to Greenwich as ‘Part of London and South East University Group’. If you manage a social media account and need support with this, please contact gresocial@gre.ac.uk
What happens next?
The Day 1 brand guidance and assets are the first step in the LASE brand journey.
Following the official formation of LASE on 1 August, we'll begin the next phase of brand development by appointing a specialist brand agency to work with us on creating the long-term LASE brand.
The agency will work with staff, students and key stakeholders to help shape a brand that reflects who we are, our ambitions as a university group, and how we want to be recognised in the future.
This work will include opportunities for colleagues to share their views, ensuring the long-term LASE brand is developed collaboratively.
We'll keep colleagues updated as the project progresses and share details of how you can get involved.
Need help?
If you have a question about the LASE brand, please check the brand FAQs first, as they cover the most common queries about Day 1 changes, brand assets and how to use them.
You can also take a look at the interim LASE brand guidance, to help you decide which logo to use, when.
If you can't find the answer you're looking for, or you're unsure whether you need to take any action, please get in touch before making any changes:
