Our libraries remain open, but government guidance requires this to be on an essential access only basis. “Essential” means you may access our libraries if your course is resuming on campus, you do not have access to appropriate study spaces elsewhere, or to borrow physical books or other resources.
Due dates for all loans have been extended to Friday 26 February and you will not get fines if you are unable to return books due to future disruption. Returning books is not an essential activity.
Only essential library services will remain on campus
From Monday 11 January our libraries will open from 9am – 7pm on weekdays and 9am – 5pm at weekends.
They remain open for browsing and borrowing physical resources. We recommend that you check availability on Library Search before you travel. If a book is at another campus you can place a reservation and have it sent across to your chosen library. Transfer of these items may take longer than normal. Document Delivery book requests cannot be made at this time.
Library study spaces also remain open for silent, individual study only.
Only Security Desks will be staffed in the libraries, remote IT and Library support continues online.
You need to follow Covid-Safe guidance
Please make sure you follow the university's Covid-Safe and government guidance to help keep everyone safe. This includes everyone on campus wearing a face covering or an exemption badge inside buildings, good hand hygiene and social distancing - on campus this applies to everyone, even those who live together.
Remember Hands Face Space. Please also remember there are materials for you to wipe down study spaces and printers before you use them.
