Medway campus is hosting a new Coronavirus local testing site

TLDRoffon

A walk-through coronavirus testing facility is opening on our Medway campus. It is sited on the edge of campus next to an access road and there are strict rules for people attending the test centre.

People attending an appointment, which are organised through NHS Test and Trace, at the walk-through testing will be provided with clear guidance on how to get to and from the testing site safely.  The health, safety and wellbeing of our students and staff continues to be our priority.

Professor Jane Harrington, Vice-Chancellor said

As a university, we are taking every possible step to ensure our campuses are Covid-Safe for our students and staff. We are pleased to host a testing centre on our Medway campus to support our local community in Medway and play a part in the national effort to tackle Covid-19.

The testing centre is sited by the Jellicoe buiding, on the edge of campus next to an access road to minimise the need for people using the centre to come onto campus.

Everyone who attends the testing centre must follow a strict rules which include following social distancing, practising good personal hygiene, not travelling by taxi or public transport and wearing a face covering throughout. There will be clear signage that directs people coming to the testing centre to move around the location in a socially distanced manner and they will be directed to leave as soon as the test has taken place.

The opening times for the testing centre are as follows.

  • Thursday 17 September: 2pm to 5pm
  • Friday 18 September: 10am to 5pm
  • Saturday 19 September onwards:  8am to 8pm

We are committed to help beat Covid-19

Our university is committed in playing our part in the national effort to tackle this virus; having an on-site testing facility at Medway, which is opening in conjunction with Medway Council, is one of the ways we are doing this.  The testing site will also benefit students living on campus and students and staff living in the Medway area, and is part of our commitment to support the wider community at Medway.

If you are concerned about your vulnerability to Covid-19 we encourage you to complete the Covid-vulnerability questionnaire and discuss any concerns with your faculty team (students) or line manager (staff).  You can find the questionnaires:
