The climb is a celebration for Zoe, Shona and Lelde who will be graduating from the university with their BSc Human Nutrition.
The team are raising money for AMAT, a homelessness charity in Medway. If you would like to donate some money, if you can afford to do so, please visit their JustGiving page.
I am very pleased to support Team Snowdon. At the university, we pride ourselves on supporting disabled students, both formally and via the STAART initiative. Raising money for AMAT also aligns to the university’s dedication to supporting the local community.
As Welsh is my first language, I am also supportive that Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon) has been chosen for the first ever sponsored endeavour undertaken by STAART.
I wish the support leads and climbers the best of luck (pob lwc).Prof Martin Snowden, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Faculty of Engineering and Science
Dr Melanie Thorley, STAART Manager agrees that STAART is an amazing initiative which supports disabled students through their university journey, adding:
Attending the graduations is one of my most favourite aspects of the job. I am delighted Zoe and Shona thought of this venture to celebrate their graduations and it is a testament to how thoughtful they both are.
AMAT has been our nominated charity for seven years as they are local to our Medway campus. We are hoping to create a new STAART tradition by having sponsored events every year to celebrate our graduations.
Thank you to the staff at the Snowdonia/Eryri Park Authority for their assistance and Bleddyn who is acting as a guide on the climb.
