A Greenwich business student has won a prestigious award from the Worshipful Company of International Bankers (WCIB).

Pierre Gonnet, who recently graduated with an MSc International Banking and Finance, was awarded the WCIB Lombard Prize for a dissertation he wrote about Basel III, a set of international banking regulations which promote stability in the international financial system.

Thomas Newman, the Chair of the Charity and Education Committee of the WCIB, said: "The Worshipful Company of International Bankers values highly our relationship with the University of Greenwich Business School.

"I am very pleased to award the WCIB prize to Pierre for his paper on Basel III. We congratulate Pierre for producing this excellent piece of work on his way to earning his International Banking and Finance MSc."

Thomas is pictured presenting Pierre with a certificate of merit and cheque for £300 at his graduation ceremony in July.

Talking about his experience studying at Greenwich, Pierre said: "The double degree between the Business School Paris and Nice (IPAG) and the University of Greenwich was the best choice I could have made. It's the way to make the difference.

"This international double degree is taught by professors from all over the world, qualified professionals and excellent researchers. It has brought me a lot of valuable knowledge, an international experience, a different way to think and an important network of alumni. I highly recommend students try this experience. It will be a decision that they will never regret."
