The university first participated in the BRIT Challenge in 2020, in the form of Row Britannia. Since then, the initiative has grown each year and has broadened out to become more inclusive than ever, allowing as many people as possible to partake in a way that works for them.

There are exciting plans in place for this year’s challenge and we will soon be sharing more details, including how you can get involved.

The British Inspiration Trust

The British Inspiration Trust was founded by Phil Packer MBE with a vision to unite Sport and Education Governing Bodies, Institutions, Businesses, Philanthropists and Inspirational Figures through a collectively powerful approach to support young adult mental health.

Phil was injured in 2008 whilst serving in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. Since then, Phil has embarked on a mission to make a positive difference to the lives of young people facing adversity, those coping with mental or physical trauma and the charities who support them.

In addition to raising funds and awareness, he has made Mental Health, Mental Fitness and Wellbeing his business and duty remains the driving force in his life. In the course of his work, Phil has raised millions and inspired millions. He dedicates all his time and energy to working with organisations and charities in the areas of Mental Fitness, Health and Wellbeing. You can read all about Phil’s incredible story here.

The BRIT Challenge

BRIT’s Vision is to improve the mental health and fitness of young adults and students throughout the UK by delivering the BRIT Challenge; an annual inclusive feelgood February fundraiser with three aims;

  • Support student mental health, fitness & wellbeing and reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness
  • Deliver inspiration to young adults, and destigmatise mental health, with the support of BRIT Ambassadors
  • Raise vital funds for local, regional and national charities.
