Get involved in our activities for University Mental Health Day, Thursday 5 March (all campuses)

Universities around the country are focusing on mental health to make it a university-wide priority and create ongoing change. There are activities taking place at each campus, organised by our community of staff committed to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our students and staff.

We'll add more information to this page providing details of the activities on taking place at each of our campuses on 5 March.

Events at Avery Hill, Greenwich and Medway campuses

In the Avery Hill Dome and Dreadnought Atrium at Greenwich, there will be a host of promotional stands for students and staff from 12 noon – 2pm, and activities are taking place at the Drill Hall library in Medway throughout the day.

Some events are bookable in advance, including:

  • Talks by Professor Derek Moore, Pro Vice-Chancellor in the Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences on dealing with the ups and downs of life so as to maintain our wellbeing. These are taking place at Greenwich at 11am and Avery Hill at 2:30pm.
  • Mental health ambassador Phil Packer MBE will share some of his experiences of overcoming challenges (10am Greenwich campus), and will be rowing as part of the university's Row Britannia challenge. 
  • During the Hormones Matter Talk, Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Judith Mohring will be giving an interactive talk (2:30pm Greenwich campus) covering cis women's experience of hormonal changes across the lifespan, and how this can impact on mental wellbeing.

Other events include:

  • Vice-Chancellor Prof Jane Harrington signing the Time to Change pledge at 11:45am in the Dreadnought Atrium  (note: time updated)
  • Local activities run by our network of Wellbeing Champions,
  • A Ditch the Desk walk - meet at 12:30pm outside Change Coffee.
