University of Greenwich praised for high-quality apprenticeships in Ofsted inspection

The University of Greenwich has been rated Good in all areas by Ofsted following its recent inspection of apprenticeship provision. The inspection praised the university’s commitment to widening access, curriculum, and teaching and support.

The Ofsted report, published today 1 July, following an inspection in June, also praises the University’s apprenticeship offering for being well suited to SEND learners. Paramedic

Greenwich has a number of popular apprenticeship programmes across a wide range of subjects including building, engineering, healthcare and science

University of Greenwich apprenticeships let learners combine studying with practical training and also enables employers to train and retain high-quality employees who can drive their businesses forward.

The report from OFSTED, following an on-site inspection highlighted several positive aspects of the provision:

  • Apprentices value the supportive environment that they experience, where they learn from knowledgeable lecturers who are passionate about their subjects.
  • Leaders have a clear aim to help people from a range of backgrounds take part in higher education.
  • As a result of their training, many apprentices gain promotions at work.
  • Apprentices with SEND achieve as well as their peers.
  • Lecturers plan their courses effectively and teach them in an appropriate order... Apprentices build on their knowledge over time and learn to apply it in more complex situations.
