Using AI responsibly
AI can be a useful tool for learning, researching and developing ideas. However, it's important to use it appropriately and understand its limitations.
From this academic year, every assessment brief will clearly explain what level of AI use is allowed. This will help you understand what's expected, use AI appropriately and feel confident you're meeting the requirements of each assessment.
Assessments will fall into one of three categories, which will be specified by your module tutor:
Tier 1: Independent of AI
AI use is restricted. These assessments are designed to demonstrate your own knowledge, skills or professional judgement.
Tier 2: Supported by AI
You may use AI for support with activities such as planning, clarification or feedback. Your ideas, analysis and final submission must still be your own work.
Tier 3: Augmented with AI
AI is intentionally built into the assessment. You may be expected to use AI tools and show how you evaluated and applied AI-generated outputs.

We’ll also be sharing tips for using AI in your work on the student portal and in Student News throughout the academic year.
