After six months of successful online collaboration, we were delighted to welcome our colleagues from universities in Tajikistan to London for the next stage of the AELLCA Project, focused on co-developing a new approach to Pre‑Service Teacher Education in Tajikistan.
The Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences at the University of Greenwich is proud to be working with the British Council on the Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia (AELLCA) initiative, which aims to strengthen education systems across the region through enhanced teacher competency, quality assurance and English language development.
During their visit, we were pleased to host colleagues Zubaidullo Musoyamov, Soadat Kesamirova and Abdurauf Navrasof from the Tajikistan International University of Foreign Languages, along with Bahriddin Muradov from Kulob State University. Their time with us included engaging in professional development, visiting local schools, and seeing our employability initiatives in action.
Tajik International University of Foreign Languages (TIUFL) is part of the Tajikistan Ministry for Education. It is considered the leading institution for the development and delivery of programmes. Kulob State University (KSU) is based in a more rural southern part of the country .
Professor Stephen Corbett, who is leading the project, explained: "All of the work the project teams at all three universities have been doing is culminating in the development of a new approach to teacher education in Tajikistan. Feedback from the Ministry of Education in Tajikistan is already very positive."
He added: "I am really grateful to all of the staff from the School of Education (FEHHS) and School of Humanities and Social Sciences (FLASS) who have contributed to this project."
The project reflects our commitment to breaking down boundaries across academic disciplines, locations and borders and to fostering meaningful international partnerships that support educational transformation.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the project so far.
