Teach students

Educate the next generation through discovery days, mentoring and skills sessions. By learning from you, students can gain a deeper understanding of their chosen industry and develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the workplace.

Discovery Days

What is a Discovery Day?

A Discovery Day is a half-day event that allows students to visit your workplace and learn more about your organisation, your industry, and the range of roles available within your company.

What are the benefits?

  • The chance to showcase your company culture and values
  • The opportunity to access and engage with a pool of diverse and talented students
  • The ability to showcase the skills and qualities you're looking for in employees
  • Access fresh perspectives and innovative ideas whilst enhancing your organisation's reputation

What are we asking from you?

After agreeing to deliver a Discovery Day for our students, it'll be over to you to bring it to life! You'll design the programme within the agreed timeline, ensuring the day is interactive, insightful, and inspiring.

How can we help you?

We specialise in supporting employers to deliver successful Discovery Days. We will work with you to develop a tailored programme that meets your goals, and we will recruit a group of students to attend the day (up to 20 or 30).

Mentor the next generation

Our mentoring scheme is a great opportunity for you to enhance your leadership skills, gain a fresh perspective on your industry and access top-quality talent.

Your mentoring questions answered

How does it work?

Our Career Mentoring Programme is an integral part of our employability service, creating a bridge that connects experienced individuals, like our alumni and employer partners with passionate students.

Once you join the programme, you will be matched to a mentee through our Ask Alumni+ platform. Matches are made based on responses provided during registration, and are cross-checked by the team.

During your time on the programme, you will have access to support and training from the Career Mentoring team along with further resources from Ask Alumni+.

The programme runs from January - June, with applications open from September - October. You will have 1-4 hours of contact time per month with your mentee either virtually or in-person.

What will I get out of the programme?

Our Career Mentoring Programme brings a number of benefits including:

  • Social Responsibility: You will be able to give something back and be the role model you would have wanted!
  • Industry Expertise: Share your persona/industry expertise and experiences with the next generation
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: Have the opportunity to support EDI in your industry
  • Leadership Skills: Build your skills and competencies as a leader or advisor
  • Reverse Mentoring: Gain insights from mentees on their lived experiences, academic learning and get a glimpse of early career talent

I think the programme was excellent, I believe I have helped my mentee and also have learnt from them. It's been a really great opportunity.

Skills Sessions

We are committed to ensuring our students and graduates are industry-ready by inviting employers to teach skills sessions and offer practical experiences for them. We regularly hold project competitions and hackathons so that students get a real taste of working life, and the skills they need to succeed in your business. Our dedicated programmes focus on transferable skills, bringing them to life with live examples from a range of industries. There are opportunities to engage with students as part of a central activity, or work more specifically with target cohorts.

Campfire Talks

Our goal is to provide our students with the most relevant and up-to-date information about their chosen industry. We believe that your experience and knowledge would be extremely valuable to our students. We are looking for conversations around current challenges in the industry and interesting topics that would engage a wide range of audiences.

Debate/Panel Discussions

The debate/panel will be an opportunity for industry professionals like yourself to discuss and share different perspectives on a range of topics and themes, discussing challenges, opportunities, and potential solutions. We believe that this will not only provide valuable insights for our students but also promote a healthy exchange of ideas and opinions among industry professionals.
