About our community
The Parents and Carers Together (PACT) Community aims to create a supportive and inclusive community that fosters open dialogue and information sharing among staff who identify as parents, parents-to-be, and carers. It provides a safe and relatable space where members can connect with others who have lived experiences, offering honest and supportive advice.
The community advocates for inclusivity and empowers individuals by addressing their questions, guiding them to the right resources, and helping them understand relevant policies. PACT was formed in response to staff feedback highlighting the need for a safe and supportive space where parents and carers could share their experiences, offer emotional and practical support, and foster a sense of belonging across the university.
PACT includes a diverse membership of professional services and academic staff from across the university with a wide range of caring and parental/ guardianship responsibilities.

Leading this community are Dr Maria Gebbels, Academic Portfolio Lead – Hospitality and Tourism at the School of Management and Marketing (MGM) in the Greenwich Business School, and Dominique Thompson, Student Support Manager for Report + Support within Student and Academic Services.
PACT connects with its members by hosting a range of events, including those in collaboration with other University networks, and therefore creating supportive spaces for members to share experiences and connect. Alongside this, PACT aims to contribute to policy development and hosting information and training sessions to support the community.

Members are given time by the university to attend community meetings and events with contributions to the work of the community recognised by the university where possible.
