Research / Scholarly interests

Catherine's current research is on 'Investigating the Progression of Business studies learners following the Academic or Vocational routes into Management positions in different Industry'. In this project, she compares the Higher Apprenticeship programme with the Academic Degree into Management positions and investigates Employer's preference.

The significance of this research could be viewed in two strands. Firstly, by adding to existing knowledge in these areas so that parents, teachers and career advisers are better equipped to guide students in the most appropriate path for them. Secondly, the research will provide feedback to policy makers, Educational Institutions and the Department of Education for future planning of the curriculum. The curriculum could be tailored to meet Employer's needs.

Presentations

Catherine presented a research paper titled "Supporting Bilingual Business Studies Learners in Further Education in the UK" at an international conference held at the University of Greenwich in July 2018 by the International Journal of Multidisciplinary Conference – World Educational Fellowship International conference.
