Principal Lecturer in Tourism Management and Quality Assurance Coordinator

Dr Jithendran Kokkranikal joined the Business School in 2009. Main areas of his research and teaching include strategic management of tourism and hospitality enterprises, human resource management, tourism policy, tourism in developing countries, entrepreneurship development, responsible tourism and sustainability.  He is a Theme Editor, Tourism Planning and Development, for the International Journal of Tourism Cities.

Dr Kokkranikal gained his PhD and an MSc in Tourism from Strathclyde University, an MA in Personnel Management and Social Work from Madras University and a BA from Loyola College, Madras. He is a Certified Management and Business Educator (CMBE), awarded by the Chartered Association of Business Schools, UK.

Before joining Greenwich, Dr Kokkranikal was a Lecturer in Tourism at the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management (formerly The Scottish Hotel School), University of Strathclyde, where he was the Director of taught Postgraduate Programmes. Earlier, Dr Kokkranikal worked as an Assistant Professor in Tourism and Programme Coordinator at the Kerala Institute of Tourism and Travel Studies (KITTS), India.

Dr Kokkranikal is a member of the editorial board and a regular reviewer for several international journals such as Tourism Management, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Management Decision, Sustainability, Journal of Tourism, Heritage and Services Marketing, among others. He is a member of the Tourism Society, UK; the British Academy of Management, Asia Pacific Tourism Association and the Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship.

Before joining academia, Dr. Kokkranikal worked for Titan Watches, India and in the construction industry in Qatar.

Dr Jithendran Kokkranikal currently supervises following PhD students:

2. Mrs Dima Ajeeb – Decentralization and England's Governance of Tourism
3. Mr Charles Oham - The Impact of Christian Spiritual Capital on Entrepreneurial Practice: An analysis of faith and entrepreneurship outcomes in the 21st century
4. Mr Nithin Radhakrishnan - Skills shortage in hospitality sector in Great Britain with special focus on London: An analysis of the industry response.
He is happy to supervise research in areas related to his current research interests and invite those interested in researching related topics to contact directly.
