Rebecca Chandler is a Postgraduate Researcher in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Greenwich.

Rebecca joined the University of Greenwich as a full time PhD student in 2013. Her background is in psychology, having completed both undergraduate and postgraduate psychology studies at the university. Rebecca's PhD research concentrates on the management of pain in people with dementia. Specifically, her research explores the cognitive and psychosocial barriers which prevent the effective assessment and management of pain in this vulnerable population.

In addition to her PhD studies, Rebecca will be involved in supervision of MSc students in the upcoming academic year. Rebecca maintains her clinical practice with voluntary work, primarily involved in care homes.

Key projects

Rebecca's broader interests include geriatric and health psychology, and more general issues of care concerning people with dementia and older adults, such as the development and implementation of alternative and innovative models of care. In early 2014 she completed a work visit to Maastricht University, the CAPHRI School for Public Health & Primary Care, on the 'Innovations in Health Care for the Elderly' research program. During this time Rebecca visited alternative and innovative nursing homes which provide care for older adults with psychogeriatric and somatic conditions.
