Amanda Douge
Lecturer in Acting for Drama and Screen
Across theatre, film and television, in both the avant-garde and commercial screen work, Amanda has comprehensive knowledge of performance techniques, industry practices and creative methodologies. With over ninety professional credits her international screen work includes; Netflix's KAOS and Apple TV's Hijack.
Amanda has been the recipient of significant national awards including; the Queens Trust Award for Young Australians for the Achievement of Excellence, Ian Potter Cultural Trust Award for Outstanding Potential in the Arts, AACTA Award and Film Critics Circle Award for Best Supporting Actress. She was nominated for an Irish Theatre Award for Best Ensemble in Abi Morgan's Spendour. Amanda also starred in ITV's Unforgotten 4 which was nominated for a best drama BAFTA.
A third year Doctoral candidate, Amanda's creative and critical thesis "Rosa Luxemburg and I" interrogates the ways in which poetic syntax can activate political agency for the purposes of climate revolution. ​She deconstructs inherited, carbon infrastructures through performance and poetics, reflecting on political economy, climate sociology, ecological imperatives and social transformation. Also an experienced teacher and director, Amanda is interested in performance as a climate pedagogy in both community, research and arts settings.
