Dr Steven Deere

Lecturer in Evacuation and Circulation Modelling

Dr Deere joined the University of Greenwich in 2001, completing his undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Computing (50:50) in 2004 and moving on to his PhD in the field of maritime evacuation analysis. His PhD involved incorporating human factors analysis into the early stages of the design cycle for a new naval vessel.

Since completing his PhD, Dr Deere has remained within the Fire Safety Engineering Group and worked on a number of EU-funded research projects including SAFEGAURD, FIRE EXIT, BeSeCu, GETAWAY and FIREPROOF.

Dr Deere has worked on several consultancy jobs assessing the evacubility of large passenger vessels and has taught on a number of short courses, training external delegates on the use of the EXODUS software modelling tool. Dr Deere also taught database design to undergraduate students for five years.

Most recently, Dr Deere has been studying the safe evacuation of high-rise construction sites and working with the MoD looking at security-based scenarios.
