Dark Tourism Public Seminar - On 4th May 2017 we held a public seminar of Dark Tourism which coincides with the compiling of a special edition of the 'International Journal of Tourism Cities.' The theme consists of dark tourism in cities and builds on research carried out by Tourism Research Centre members over a number of years in related fields such as cultural and heritage tourism.
Key note speakers included:
- *Professor John Lennon: co-author of the seminal work 'Dark Tourism: the attraction of death and disaster'
- *Sheldon Goodman: Westminster Tour Guide, expert on Cemetery Tours and founder of the Cemetery Club.
- The evening ended with a guided walking tour of the dark history of the Old Royal Naval College.

ITSA Biennial Conference - We hosted the International Tourism Studies Association (ITSA) Biennial Conference between the 17th-19th August 2016. This was the first time that the conference has been held in Europe and it provided a unique opportunity to meet, hear from and network with tourism scholars and professionals from Asia, Australasia, North and South America and Europe whilst exploring the conference theme of 'Tourism in Contemporary Cities' (August 2016)
