Tristan

MSc Digital Marketing Student

Why Digital Marketing? Why Greenwich?

For Tristan, the decision to study for a Master’s in Digital Marketing Management at Greenwich was more than just an academic choice - it was part of a journey which started across the Atlantic in Tennessee, long before she set foot in the classroom.

Greenwich wasn’t just a university choice, it was the right environment.

"The welcoming community, the diverse learning environment, and of course, the location… Living in London, being near so many opportunities, that was a huge factor for me".

With a background in advertising and public relations, Tristan was already well-versed in the world of communications. But she wanted more.

“I wanted to deepen my knowledge, especially in areas like data analytics and emerging technologies like AI” she explains.

Beyond marketing strategies and technical skills, one of the most valuable things Tristan has gained from her MSc at Greenwich Business School is the ability to build and leverage professional networks.

Through my studies and projects, I’ve connected with industry professionals, professors, and peers. Those connections have helped me understand real-world digital marketing and have opened up new opportunities for collaboration and career growth.

A Full-circle moment

When asked about a standout moment in her MSc journey, Tristan doesn’t hesitate - her final project in the Emerging Digital Technologies class.

"I had the chance to work with a company that played a meaningful role in my journey to London. My first trip here in 2023 was with them, so getting the opportunity to apply my marketing skills to their brand felt like everything had come full circle” Tristan shares.

The project challenged her to implement advanced digital marketing strategies while staying ahead of industry trends.

“It pushed me to think creatively and strategically, analysing data, understanding consumer behaviour, and exploring how emerging technologies like AI can enhance marketing efforts”.

Beyond the technical skills, the experience deepened her ability to connect marketing theory with real-world execution.

“This wasn’t just about writing a report - it was about crafting a strategy that could genuinely impact a business. Being able to work on something I was personally invested in made the project even more exciting”.

Bridging Theory and Real-World Marketing

Tristan has found the balance between academic knowledge and hands-on experience to be one of the most valuable aspects of her MSc.

“The course has helped me approach challenges by blending theory with practical application, like creating campaigns for real companies,” she says. “It’s given me the confidence to step into the industry with a strong foundation and the skills to adapt to its fast-paced nature”.

Tristan’s advice for future students

"Take the leap! The collaborative environment, the diverse perspectives, the mix of theory and hands-on learning - it all makes this programme so valuable. I’m so happy I chose Greenwich, and I know it’s setting me up for success in digital marketing".

With a background in social media marketing, public relations, and events management, Tristan is now poised to make her mark in the digital marketing industry.
