8th Mar 2021 12pm
- 4pm
This activity takes place online WiB is a student-run organisation committed to empowering the next generation of female leaders. We aim to create opportunities for students, alumni, faculty staff and guest speakers from our external allies to collaborate and learn from each other's experiences. March the 8th is known globally as International Women's Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women's achievements or rally for women's equality. This conference aims to demonstrate how gender barriers are, slowly but surely, being reduced or removed and better inclusivity and diversity in the workplaces the biggest goal that society strives to achieve. Diversity and inclusion in the workplace cause all employees to feel accepted and valued. When employees feel accepted and valued, they are also happier in their workplace and stay longer with a company. It goes without saying that the conference is open to people of all genders. We need men to attend and understand that they are part of the future story. Yes! There's no place for complacency. According to the World Economic Forum, sadly none of us will see gender parity in our lifetimes, and nor likely will many of our children. Gender parity will not be attained for almost a century. There's urgent work to do - and we can all play a part. Women in Finance, Women in Technology, Women as CEOs/Business owners, Gender Pay Gap, Women in Competitive Sports and many more. Strong female role models already working in the industry will be there to share their experiences with us, one of them is May Breisacher, Assistant Director from EY and Emily Wong, Account Director at Hill & Knowlton Strategies. You will also get the chance to ask any questions by the end of the conference to all of the speakers. 12:00-12:15 Welcome and Introduction
