Choosing the right creative degree can feel overwhelming, and hearing directly from students can give you a real sense of what to expect. At the University of Greenwich, our Design degrees include Graphic Design, Media and Communications and Animation degrees.
Access to Industry- Standard Design Facilities
One of the main reasons I chose this course was the access to incredible creative facilities. As a design student, I get to work in digital design labs equipped with advanced software, photography studios, animation studios, and even work with high-tech laser cutters. Whether you’re interested in Graphic Design, Animation, or Media and Communications, everything you need is in one place at the Stockwell Street building, making it easy to experiment, create, and develop your skills alongside other creatives.
Building Industry Connections While You Study
Greenwich places a strong emphasis on helping students build real industry connections. For example, third-year Graphic Design students get the chance to showcase their work at D&AD New Blood, giving them exposure to professionals from across the creative industry. There are also plenty of career events throughout the year hosted by the Greenwich Employability Team, helping students explore different pathways after graduation.
On my Media and Communications course, I’ve chosen the Creative Communications pathway, which is designed in collaboration with creative companies. This pathway gives students hands-on experience working on real briefs whilst helping develop practical skills.
Studying Design in London
The location is definitely a highlight. Greenwich is just outside central London, close enough to take advantage of all the creative opportunities the city offers, whilst still being a part of a welcoming campus community. Students often get involved in mini exhibitions and projects around the local area, giving a chance to showcase work in public spaces. Our final year culminates in the end-of-year show, where students present their best work to industry professionals - a fantastic opportunity to make connections and display your portfolio.
