Studying BSc Public Health has been a successful journey

Our graduate Nnamdi Onwura, encourages everyone with a desire to contribute to the promotion of a healthier society to study BSc Hons Public Health at the University of Greenwich.

Nnamdi says that choosing Greenwich was a straightforward decision to make: "I decided to study at Greenwich because I wanted to take full advantage of its world-class teaching and learning facilities. In addition, as a mature student, I thought that the learning experience and mentorship that I would gain from studying Public Health, would help me to gain the essential skillset and capabilities that could fast-track my career aspirations".

The lectures were a particularly pleasant surprise in the way they were structured: "The lecturers' dedication and deep knowledge of public health, and the way they deliver the modules has made my learning journey, through the last three years, a rich and unforgettable experience" he says. "They have made learning and the art of acquiring knowledge smooth and I will be forever grateful" he went on to say.

The course is based at the Greenwich Campus which is located just next to the River Thames. It is surrounded by several historical landmarks like the Cutty Sark, Royal Observatory and the Maritime Museum along with many shops and places to eat in the near vicinity. The Campus has first-rate teaching facilities, as well as student accommodation and is a single DLR journey away from central London.

Nnamdi found that his placement offered him the unique opportunity of applying what he had learned throughout the course to his role: "My placement provided the opportunity for me to apply the theories that I learned in contributing to social justice and become a champion for people within communities to influence positive change in health and wellbeing".

"Looking back from when I first started my course, it has been quite a journey but a successful one in so many ways". Nnamdi goes on to say, "I have met lots of interesting people during this journey, some are my friends, and most will remain my friends after the course finishes. I will definitely recommend Public Health to any prospective students who are interested and have the passion and desire to contribute to the promotion of a healthier society".
