Train for a career in engineering manufacturing

TLDRoffon

A new CertHE course at the University of Greenwich will support aspiring engineers to enter the engineering manufacturing industry.

Kickstart your career in engineering manufacturing

Engineering Manufacturing Technician, CertHE, is an exciting new course at the University of Greenwich that will enable learners to develop the professional skills needed to enter a career in the engineering and manufacturing industry. The course will welcome new starters from September 2024, and can be studied over one year full-time or two years part-time. With a current skills shortage in the UK within the manufacturing industry, this course will open pathways for learners to support key industry processes and systems at a crucial time.

Gain a qualification and develop your skills

A Certificate of Higher Education is a Level 4 academic qualification equivalent to the first year of a bachelor’s degree, and provides an opportunity for learners who may wish to upskill with a one-year higher education course. Engineering Manufacturing Technician, CertHE, has a focus on practical applications, with assessments linking to real work scenarios. Students will study five  modules that will delve into processes and systems related to manufacturing. Graduates of the course can take forward their qualification and advanced knowledge and skills to pursue employment in the engineering and manufacturing industry. Alternatively, they may wish to use the qualification to embark upon a higher education degree course.

Join our supportive School of Engineering

The course will be taught at the university’s Medway Campus, home to the university’s School of Engineering, a supportive community of students, researchers and academics, and will have full access to the university’s extensive support services and resources. To develop their practical skills, students will also have access to the university’s engineering laboratories, which include a mechanical engineering lab that has been updated with new equipment to support students in designing, improving and operating equipment used in industry.

This CertHE is the newest addition to the University of Greenwich’s growing portfolio of engineering courses. The portfolio already boasts two CertHE courses that opened in September 2023, Design and Build Technician and Construction Site Supervisor, to support individuals aspiring to enter the construction industry.
