Getting ready for the start of term: IT self-service for students is here

Find out how to get IT support whenever you need it with IT self-service

You now have access to our online service where you can report an issue or request something new, as well as:

  • Find suggested fixes for your issue
  • View and update your existing tickets
  • Check the status of our digital services like Wi-Fi or email
  • Give feedback on the help you received and the resources available.

With self-service you have one place to manage your IT support that you can access at any time, from any device, anywhere.

We’re moving our “how-to” IT guides and support into self-service. This will help you to find faster answers and clearer guidance, all in one place. Our guide to self-service will help you to find your way around.

Get all the help you need online

  • A new name for a familiar button: The ‘Forgotten password’ button that you see on the service desk homepage before you log in is now called ‘Registration or login issues’.
  • A smarter way to get help: We’ve launched our new chatbot. It’s fully automated and available 24/7 to guide you to answers or help you raise a ticket if you can’t find what you need.
  • A new approach to email: Emails sent to the IT Service Desk will now receive an automatic reply asking you to use self-service. Once you have logged your ticket you can update it online or reply to any email responses we send.

Can't find the information you need? Raise a ticket

When you need IT support, go to servicedesk.gre.ac.uk and log in with your university username and password. Email is no longer used to log new tickets.

There’s also a link to the Digital Student Centre for easy access to student enquiries and personalised support.
