Spring clean your digital space

Spring is here and it’s a great time to refresh not only our workspaces but also our digital habits.

Information security is everyone’s responsibility, and small steps can make a big difference in keeping our data and systems safe.

Clear out digital clutter

Unused files, outdated downloads, and unnecessary personal data all increase risk if your device is compromised. Delete what you no longer need and store important documents only in secure, university approved locations such as OneDrive. Keeping data minimal and well managed aligns with good privacy practice across the university.

Strengthen your passwords

Make sure your passwords are strong and unique. Find more information here.

Update your devices

Install any pending updates on your laptop, phone or tablet, and restart devices regularly so essential security patches apply. Up-to-date devices help keep both personal and university systems safe.

Refresh your mandatory training

If you haven’t recently completed your Information Security or Data Protection (GDPR) training, spring is a perfect time to. These mandatory modules will help you understand your responsibilities and avoid common security pitfalls.
