Accounting and Financial Information Systems student, Charlotte Nickson, and her guide dog, Layla, dropped by the Dreadnought building on the Greenwich campus today, where clearing operations are underway.

Charlotte, 24, who is registered blind and has just completed the first year of her degree, successfully secured a place at Greenwich through clearing last August.

She said: "Last year was nerve-wracking, but everyone I spoke to at the university was really helpful. It was great having someone to talk to, to answer questions and talk through everything with. It made the whole process a lot easier."

Charlotte advises prospective students who are currently going through the clearing process to be excited about new opportunities.

"It is scary but there are options that you may not even have thought about before. Also, you should be really proud of whatever results you have – it's still an achievement.

"My first year has been great. I love Greenwich. The biggest thing is how supportive the staff are and how friendly the university is. It's a nice atmosphere, really social and you feel involved in every aspect of university life."

UCAS Clearing is still open at Greenwich. Call 020 8331 9000, email clearing@gre.ac.uk or take part in a live chat.
