Ideas from the Avery Hill Open Space session Articles

Last week saw the first Open Space session take place at Avery Hill with around sixty staff taking part. There was a real buzz of activity and plenty of discussion throughout the afternoon as we discussed the agenda which those in the room had set.

The ideas from the session have been added to the Ideas Centre, and we're keen to carry on the discussion, whether you were at the Avery Hill session last week, or not.

So if you have views and opinions on

  • Our Induction experience,
  • Financial support for students,
  • Upgrading our formal learning spaces,
  • Community engagement or
  • Starting an incubator space for students to create new businesses

Then head over to the Ideas Centre and share your thoughts, these are just a few of the ideas suggested since it launched on 10 January.  The Vice-Chancellor is keen for everyone across the university to get involved suggesting ideas that will make a real difference to our university as part of our next Strategic Plan.

How to get involved

The Open Space sessions are just one of the ways for you to get involved in the work informing the Strategic Plan for 2017-2022. The next session is at Medway this Wednesday, 18 January from 1pm–4.30pm in Jellicoe 118, and you're very welcome to attend. There will be a further sessions at Greenwich and we'll provide more details nearer the time.If you can't make it to any of these sessions, we'd welcome your ideas and input online in the Ideas Centre.

Whether that's submitting new ideas or discussing ideas that have already been submitted by colleagues. To do this you'll need to register for an account, which is simple to do, see Share your ideas in the Ideas Centre for more details.
