The COVID-19 vaccination programme is accelerating, with vaccinations now offered at almost 1,000 sites and the first of 50 large vaccination centres launching this week, including at ExCeL Centre, London.
The university is committed to help beat COVID-19, and to play our part in the national effort to tackle this virus. Hosting local testing sites on our campuses is one of the ways we are doing this, in conjunction with the Public Health teams at the Royal Borough of Greenwich and Medway Councils.
We are also encouraging, those that are able, to register to support the NHS vaccination programme across clinical, volunteer and community support roles.
Volunteer to help
The NHS are calling on colleagues from across the NHS and outside of it, who have experience of vaccinating or are willing to be trained, to once again put themselves forward to play a part in the vital next phase in the health service's COVID-19 response.
They are also looking to a wider group of clinicians and allied health professionals, as well as medical and healthcare students, and others with appropriate first aid training, who can undertake additional comprehensive training to deliver vaccines.
The NHS are working with St John Ambulance and the NHS Volunteer Responder programme to sign up vaccination volunteers and steward volunteer roles, to support the safe and smooth running of vaccination centres. Members of the public can also support their neighbours and the NHS through food or medication deliveries, lifts to medical appointments or check-in phone calls by signing up to the NHS Volunteer Responder programme.
The Department of Health and Social Care is ensuring that everyone who comes forward will get all the necessary training, supervision and PPE for the safety of staff, volunteers and patients alike.
You can also sign up to be contacted about taking part in approved UK coronavirus vaccine studies by joining the COVID-19 vaccine registry.
