Creating a community for students with little or no family support at Greenwich
Are you an estranged student or a student who has little or no support from your family? If so, we are very excited to announce that we have organised a range of events as part of Estranged Students Solidarity Week to support you and build a peer-led community.
Estranged students are those who have no contact or support from their family due to a breakdown in their relationship. To show our support and solidarity with our estranged students at Greenwich, we have organised networking and social opportunities for these students.
Throughout the week, events will be taking place at all three campuses – Avery Hill, Greenwich and Medway.
Join our events
The first event is an information session at Greenwich campus where you will hear from the Accommodation, Student Finance, Report + Support and Wellbeing, and GSU Advice teams. They will offer advice and guidance and there will an opportunity for an informal one-to-one session with someone from the wellbeing team if requested. Pizza and drinks will be provided.
Events throughout the week will be full of activities and opportunities for you to gain support and connect with fellow students who can identify with family estrangement.
This is the first time the University of Greenwich have organised events in line with Estranged Students Solidarity week in collaboration with Greenwich Students’ Union, so if you identify as being an estranged student, or are not sure if you could be considered estranged, please do come along.
Estranged Students Solidarity Week is organised by the Student Engagement and Success Team. For queries, please contact student-engagement@gre.ac.uk.
