The 3D scans are part of an exclusive exhibition for Painted Hall ticket holders, at the London Design Festival at the Old Royal Naval College, 14- 22 September.

3D Scan of the Upper Painted Hall

The scans by Simon Withers, School of Design, Architecture in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Sciences, are part of a long term research project comprising scans, photographs and film of the Painted Hall and St Alfege church.

These particular scans were made as a record of the Painted Hall prior to the restoration project that concluded this spring and the scans of St Alfege are a part of the ongoing HLF funded restoration of the church.

This project is part of a much larger project by a group within Architecture and Landscape that is scanning above and below ground the great baroque maritime architectures and landscapes from the top of Greenwich Park down to the Thames incorporating the park, the Royal Observatory, Queen's House, the Old Royal Naval College complex and the surrounding churches.

The project is in partnership with the Royal Parks, the Royal Observatory, Queen's House, the ORNC and St Alfege.

There is a free exhibition in the Visitor Centre, which for the first time celebrates local artists and makers from Greenwich, Woolwich and Deptford.

You can find out more about the London Design Festival at the Old Royal Naval College, on the London Design Festival website.  Tickets for the Painted Hall, and entry to this part of the exhibition are bookable on the Old Royal Naval College website.
