British, Irish and qualifying Commonwealth staff and students, who are eligible, will be able to vote in this election. Students can register at both their home and term-time addresses, but can only vote once. You can register online, it usually takes 5 minutes to complete.
International students: as individuals who have the right to study and work in the UK, it's important for your views to be included in this election - check if you're eligible to vote on The Electoral Commission website.
When do I need to register to vote by?
The deadline to register to vote in the Parliamentary general election on Thursday 4 July is Tuesday 18 June.
To register to vote online, you just need 5 minutes and your national insurance number.

If you're not currently in the country, you can apply for a postal vote until Tuesday 18 June here. You must be registered to vote before you apply for a postal vote.
You can also apply for a proxy vote, which means someone voting on your behalf, until Wednesday 26 June.

Do you have Voter ID?
You now need to show photo ID to vote at polling stations in the next local and General Elections.
All voters need to show photo ID to vote but student IDs or youth travel cards aren’t accepted.
The photo ID needs to be the original version and not a photocopy. Accepted forms of ID include: Passport, Drivers licence, blue badge, PASS card, Voter Authority Certificate and more.
NUS have teamed up with Citizen Card to offer students a free voter ID.
