The RSK Group, a partner of the university and a global sustainability consultancy is providing £1,000 for five separate students ‘Living Lab’ projects.
Students from all subject areas can apply. We are looking for new ways of thinking about the challenges we face and innovative approaches that haven’t been done before that can help deliver results.
The types of projects could include how can we better save energy (and carbon), improve recycling and reuse rates, make our labs become more sustainable, encourage people into our natural spaces, encourage people to improve their sustainability related habits or improve existing sustainability projects on campus.
How to apply
Guidance and examples of how we would like you to present ideas can be found on the application form here. We encourage you to work with teaching staff before you submit your initial idea by 7 July 2023.
What is a Living Lab?
Living Lab brings an opportunity to create a ‘bridge’ between our students and academic staff and our professional staff to apply their knowledge to help improve our sustainability performance or testing new innovations.
This could include addressing challenges we face, for example: to help us reduce energy consumption (and carbon), improve recycling rates, reduce the impacts in our labs, engage staff and students in our natural environments, encourage behaviour change, create innovative engagement processes etc.
